Hi,

I have a 12 yrs old son and would like to open a 529 plan.

Few questions:

1) We live in New Jersey.
There is a government NJBEST and Templeton 529 there.
Does it make sense to open 529 in NJ or some other state has better
ones ?
If so, which of the 2 you can recommend ?

2) We came to US from Canada, where we used to have RESP plan.
A few years ago all new contributions were frozen since we left Canada
and not paying taxes there.
Would that complicated opening or operating 529 ?
Any potential problems (troubles getting financial aid, not all
colleges eligible, etc.) ?

Thank you in advance,
Oleg.

Before jumping into any plan check its performance history.
Government backing does not mean it will never loose money.

Good Luck.
