Every year hundreds of top colleges and universities award athletes
over $1 billion in sports scholarships. There are other benefits to
college sports participation, but most of the high school athletes who
dream of playing their sport at college level and being good enough to
get a full-ride athletic scholarship do not. The reason for this is
that they feel they won't get a scholarship, and the reality is that
most won't, but the really sad thing is that most won't even try.
That's right, most don't even bother to submit an athletic profile to
the college coaches, they think that athletic scholarships are for
elite athletes only and don't bother even applying. But in reality,
college coaches are looking for athletes that demonstrate the ability
to play, but more importantly the ability to learn. This applies in and
out of the sports program, because these athletes can be trained to
whatever system the sports program uses, and the do not come with
over-inflated ego thinking they already know the game.
So to sum it all up, if the student athlete never applies for a
scholarship, they will never get one. And, with the availability of so
much financial aid to scholarships, it does not hurt to apply for a
athletic scholarship. One place to start is by posting your profile
online with a company that specializes in sports profiles like the
