I want to take a fifth course this semester (Auditing) because it's a very
important class to my major even though I will still graduate without taking
the class.

However when I applied for a private loan with my brother as cosigner I was
approved, but the amount was only sufficient to cover the costs of regular
tuition (4 classes).

I am now $700 short of taking this fifth class which I desperately want to
take. I cannot get approved for loans on my own because I have bad credit.
Is there any loan place for bad credit customers where I can get this $700
loan? Any suggestions?

Probably the best thing to do would be to talk to your school's
financial aid people -- they should be able to tell you what your
options are.

Also, if you don't need the hours, maybe you can audit it for free.

Who prevented you from borrowing the full amount? Was it the school or the
lender you are borrowing the money from? Also, might help to know what type
of educational loan you are borrowing.

Most educational loans require the school to certify the loan and prevent
you from borrowing beyond the total Cost of Attendance budget they have set
up for you.

The best advice would still be to contact the financial aid office at your
school for viable solutions though.

Nobody prevented me. At the time when my brother cosigned the loan, I asked
for an amount enough to cover tuition for 4 classes and an extra $500 for
books and expenses, still under the "total cost of attendance".

However after thinking about it, I really want to take Auditing, which I'm
$700 short of with the $500 in additional money.

So did you follow up on my suggestion to contact the financial aid folks
at your school? They might be able to help you find a job, e.g.

Yes. Request another loan for $700 with your brother as cosignor,
stating that the amount is for taking an additional course to improve
your employment prospects. Take a continuing-education course in
Auditing after graduation. Even a correspondence course is possible.
