Post subject: College loan consolidation
Archived from groups: soc>college>financial-aid (more info?)

I'm asking for info on consolidation of college loans for my son.
It's been a while since I've been in this arena. What should he be on
the lookout for, e.g. what conditions are there for consolidation,
loan providers who are better than others (and which ones to steer
clear of), etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post subject: consolidation answer...

It all depends on what type of loan you took out for your son. Was your loan federal or private? If you have one of both, you definitely don't want to consolidate them together because the interest will get kicked up.

Here's a good website to go to for some help:
http://www.studentfinancedomain.com

Hope this helps!

Here's some pretty good info: http://www.nextstudent.com/ (Student loan consolidation)

It's the company that I work for (I'm not trying to advertise for them or anything), but they do have a lot of information on their website. Hope it helps!
