Actually i got in touch with a professr and he adviced me to do a Phd
..I then asked him whether as a first step i should do an MS or an MBA
and he said doing an MS is better and an MBA will not prepare you for
a Phd .. he also said that first year in MBA is common through out the
world and gave me a list of courses and they were very similar to what
i had already done in my first year MBA here(Marketing,Fin acc,Mang
acc ,eco etc)
The other thing that i have to consider is the job prospect after
finishing the degree . I mean a Phd can take a long time and teaching
is something i dont know anything about whereas banking and related
field are something i have seen (many of my friends are in that field
and my client is an AMC ).
Getting in touch with a potential employer is a good idea and i will
send some them email and wait for a response.
The other question is that of college . MS in finance is not something
that is ranked (as far as i now) and i need some more inputs .what
are the ranking of the various colleges at least group perception
wise.Is there a site where the finance courses are discussed ? I have
heard a lot about MS computational finance from CMU .. are there any
more colleges that offer similar courses ? What about other finance
courses .
