Post subject: Intl Student: 1099 instead of W2?
Archived from groups: soc>college>gradinfo (more info?)

I am an international student in the US, doing internship at a company
and am currently on OPT. My company pays me on a per hour basis and
they do not deduct taxes. Im not on their payroll. So I'll get a 1099
instead of a W2 at the end of the year. Is that a problem for visa
status? (Someone suggested that it could be, thats why this posting!)
Does the F1 visa require me to be on the company's payroll while they
are paying me? Please let me know. Thanks.
