Char Wrighton will discuss the Zoophonics program which is currently being
used in over 6,000 schools throughout the United States. Char holds a
Masters Degree in Education and Curriculum with credentials in Regular and
Special Education. In addition, Char has a degree in Administration. From
1986-1991 Char taught credentialing classes for the University of San
Francisco and Chapman College. She taught weekend workshops at Fresno
Pacific University and University of the Pacific as well. Learn how
Zoophonics can effectively be used in both school and home settings.
Join author Victoria Kindle Hodson as she discusses learning styles,
homeschooling and other topics of interest to parents and teachers.
Victoria believes that students are capable and that their potentials are
unlimited. She will discuss how the the Learning Style Model of Education
expects differences in individual students — different learning readiness,
different rates for learning, and a need for different teaching methods.
She will show how the *positive approach* that she uses is based on working
with each person's natural gifts and dispositions, rather than applying
labels such as A.D.D., Dyslexic, etc.
Dr. Melvin Poage of M.T.E. Ltd. will share how the MTE text series creates a
stairway to calculus. Using the research of Piaget, Montessori and Polya,
the MTE textbooks incorporate several features which builds understanding and
enhances critical thinking. Dr. Poage will discuss the competency
arithmetic, geometric and measurements topics, beginning algebra,
intermediate algebra and pre-calculus tools he offers.
Joan McGivney will join us to discuss the popular game Nation Relation.
Joan is well known for her commitment to education, having served as a
member of the Board of Education - Webster Groves School District. Her
Nation Relation game won a national Parents Choice Honors Award in 1993 and
is currently being used by school and home educators throughout the United
States.
Dave Olszewski, owner of Hello Wood, will share detailed information about
the superb line of finely crafted wood products available. Hello Wood
specializes in the areas of geography, sensorial, mathematics, language,
botany, zoology and furniture. Dave has recently unveiled some new products
that Montessorians will want to know more about.
Jaye Leazer, founder of Creative Care, offers integrated educational craft

Rick Hines, from Fun With Languages, will explain the importance of second
language acquisition in very young children as well as introduce innovative
