Thats Right! It is a loan and you have to be smart about these loans.
They are a great aid in getting through school but after graduation
they become a liability and need to be managed. That's why it is

How are parents able to pay for their kids college if all the good jobs are
off shored ?

I've been going over census records from 1892. People back then had jobs
like:
iceman
shoe repair
oil salesman
gardener

if you were lucky you made it to the 8th grade.
Just the way today's bottom feeders like it.
