Archived from groups: soc>college>admissions (more info?)

Hello, I'm applying to grad school at some of the Universities of
California. Although I have been getting good grades as an
undergrad..After a rough start, and I've been researching and gave some
limited teaching exp. I haven't won any scholarship or presented award
(like The John Smith's Certificate of Merit for example) to speak of
from my school or in fact anywhere since HS. Most applications however
ask for something to the effect of 'list all your honors and awards' or
'describe your three greatest achievements and list all the clubs
you've been in etc'. I feel sort of awkward not knowing whether I
should leave it blank or not, but at the same time I'm not sure what
relevant things I could put there. Any general ideas or
suggestions..perhaps from experience?

Coursework and experience are the most important.
I was on a grad admissions for an ivy science department. We wanted
the students
with sufficient coursework preparation for grad academics. The actual
major wasn't as
important. Second, almost all PhD students participated in research or
teaching
(and paid a modest amount for that). People with experience in either
could get up to
speed sooner.

Yeah but I don't think putting that you got an A in genetics would
really cut it as an achievement or award. Research for me has been an
ongoing process that has been going on for a couple years but hasn't
yielded anything like a paper in a major journal. For someone like me
what exactly could we put in the awards, honors, or achievement section?
